01 Live and still evolving

Spyhop

A map I built to make it easier to follow whale sightings around Puget Sound.

Sightings are usually shared across posts and comments, which makes it hard to tell where an animal has been or where it might be heading. Spyhop puts those reports on a map and connects them over time.

I built the product end to end, including the interface, backend, and automated tests.

02iPhone app · In development

Kepler

A native iPhone puzzle game about finding your way through space with as little fuel as possible.

Plan burns, reshape an orbit, and line up a moon encounter. The campaign has 50 missions with fuel-efficiency stars, plus separate practice flights for experimenting.

I’m building the SwiftUI and SpriteKit app, the orbital physics engine, and hands-on tutorials, with automated checks for the simulation and touch controls.

03Professional work

Quality engineering

I help teams test complex software changes and catch problems before they reach customers.

At CHG Healthcare, I led quality and validation for a Salesforce migration, checking data mappings and working with teams to resolve issues.

At 1-800 Contacts, I grew from manual QA into a senior engineering role focused on test automation, release quality, and preventing production bugs.

How I work

I try to understand the problem before reaching for a tool.

Understand what could go wrong.

I talk with the people involved, follow the data, and look for places where handoffs break down.

Automate the boring parts.

If something needs to be checked repeatedly, I look for a simple way to make it faster and more reliable.

Check the work.

Automation still needs review. I run it, debug it, and make sure it solves the problem we actually have.

Outside of work, I train acrobatics, run trails, and photograph wildlife.

Acrobatics

I’ve spent years training, performing, and teaching partner acrobatics. It’s challenging, collaborative, and a lot of fun.

I like long days in the mountains, especially when they involve more trail than road.
